Here is a mosaic of Medusa
This is found on the floor of the castle.
You will learn about Medusa with Mrs. Williamson later this year. I have been surprised at how often I have seen her in mosaics, paintings, statues, etc, since my trip began. Legends say she would offer protection by scaring off strangers.
I am a 6th grade social studies teacher. I grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I have also lived in Iowa, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Illinois.
Student success is my passion. I have a B.S. from Univ of Iowa and MEd and EdS from Southern IL University at Edwardsville. I have been a finalist for IL Teacher of the Year and a Fulbright Scholar in Russia. I have worked with the Dept. of Ed. in DC with the publication: Improving Organization and Study to Improve Student Learning--it can be downloaded at the Doing What Works Website for teachers.
She would scare me off too!!! If she had snakes on her head I would hate to be bitten by one. Blake
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs. Bain,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't turn to stone when you saw Medusa.

Blake and Jared--you are funny:)
ReplyDeleteI was really quite surprised how OFTEN she was used to keep strangers away. Apparently, people really DID believe that she could turn them to stone!
